Steps to copy Bluray to iPad and other Devices
1. Bypass DVD or Bluray Encryption
If your only intent is to copy home produced DVD, then this will not be an issue for you. However DVDs and Bluray discs produced by the movie studios contain protection on different levels, notably Region locking and other copy protection measures.
Therefore, the first hurdle is stopping you copy bluray to iPad or other devices is to manage to bypass the encryption present on every commercial bluray disc.
There are other products available in the market (e.g. DVDFab .. which we have not personally used), however we said that we would only recommend products that we have used successfully and Slysoft’s AnyDVD HD is our recommendation.
Why do we recommend AnyDVD HD? Simple … it is set and forget. You install once and decide what features that you would like to be removed from the disc. You never need to change a setting again … unless you change your own preferences.
We completely detest all the adverts and trailers and prefer to jump straight to the movie. We can also buy our discs from any region and know that they will work when inserted in the PC without any other effort on our part.
AnyDVD HD makes a commercial bluray disc appear as an unprotected disc to any other application that you choose to use. The only intervention that you ever need to do is to check for the regularly released update versions that combat more recent bluray (or DVD) protection layers.
AnyDVD HD is the premium product that strips protection from all commercial discs including HD/Bluray (even 3D) as well as standard (non-HD) DVD discs. Whilst this guide will be focussed on teaching you how to copy bluray to iPad 2, iPad and other Apple devices, it is also relevant to standard DVDs. However, if you only wish to copy standard DVDs, then there is a cheaper AnyDVD product without Bluray and HD capability if you don’t envisage wanting to copy Bluray to iPad 2, iPad or any other device.
AnyDVD doesn’t actually convert anything, but it does decrypt Bluray and other movie discs to automatically make it appear unencrypted and that is a vital step to preparing a DVD for copying to other discs and/or devices.
AnyDVD gets a big thumbs up from us.
